The snowiest day so far in Sutton

Yesterday, I proclaimed that I had never seen so much snow in my life. Then, it kept snowing. Today, I can honestly say that I have never seen this much snow ever. Well, it is still snowing. Perhaps I might make the same proclamation tomorrow.

This morning when we woke up, there appeared to be even more snow then the night before. Chulita wanted to go outside to do her business. When I opened the door, there was a wall about 8 inches thick of fluffy, beautiful snow. Chulita was not sure what to do. So, like any spoiled dog would do, she turned to Gilles who quickly got to work shoveling a path.

We started seeing plows throughout the neighbourhood. We paid someone to plow our driveway and the long driveway at the construction site. We are not sure what is going on, but I am sure we will have things straightened out soon enough. In the meantime, Gilles began shoveling. We agreed I had no where to go so he would take the subaru and shovel enough space to get that car out.

Needless to say, with 2 cars fully buried, shoveling was not a quick job. Nothing seeed to matter, it was beautiful. The snow glistened. It was fluffy and we had a blast. Surprisingly, it was not as cold as I had expected. Gilles suggested we all go to the construction site.

So, we loaded up the car with all of our gear and headed out. The sites we passed along the way were spectacular. The village looked like a Thomas Kinkade winter scene. Luckily, when we got to our driveway, it had been plowed.

We quickly got to work shoveling and bringing in some wood for the wood stove. It was incredibly breathtaking. The pictures don't quite do it justice since you can't truly appreciate the depth of the snow.
We brought in enough wood to last a few weeks. Lesson learned: Fall is for wood managing, including splitting it and bringing it in.

We spent the afternoon at Rona picking out all of the plumbing and bath fixtures. So exciting!! I can't wait to have it all installed. The best part of it all is the tub. I love baths and this house we are renting only has showers. So, I am starting to dream of taking a bath in my new home. It can't come soon enough. I have included a few pics. If you want to see more of the snowiest day so far, click on the link

  1. Whoa -- that is a LOT of snow! It'll be interesting to see how our southern girl does after the novelty has worn off!

Thanks for the house pics in the facebook album. I was happy to see all the windows, especially at the back. It must be nice and bright inside!

  2. Boy, that looks so... beautiful. Reminds me of the time I visited Ottawa many years ago. It was amazing to see everything blanketed in that beautiful fluffy stuff. Fun for a west coaster who didn't have to worry about shovelling the stuff every day! Do you & Gilles have snowshoes or cross country skis? Might make getting around easier!
